Pet Portrait & Wildlife Workshop
Hello lovely people! ❤️
Thank you so much for the overwhelming response to the Koala class on 4th September — it should hopefully be a wonderful day!
As promised, I also have another class booked for Friday 11th September. I know that’s a double Chloe dose in quick succession 😂, but this really is the very last thing I have planned for you in person until… 20th December!
So, save the date…
🎨 Friday 11th September
9.30am–4pm
(You can leave earlier if you need to.)
📍 Upper Sheringham Village Hall, Upper Sheringham
💷 £75
This includes all your materials, refreshments throughout the day and a yummy lunch — think jacket potatoes, finger sandwiches and plenty of treats! 😋
🐶 Pet Portraits… or Wildlife!
I’ve had quite a few requests for help with individual pet portraits, and my pet portrait workshop last year was such good fun that I thought… let’s do it again!
Fear not if you were hoping to do a lion cub — you can absolutely still choose that little cutie, or any other wildlife subject you fancy.
But if you’ve been wanting to learn more about my techniques for creating pet portraits, then this is the class for you!
What will we cover?
- Lots of demonstrations throughout the day
I’ll demonstrate different types of fur and show you how I work through the layering process, so you can see exactly how I build up a realistic animal portrait.
- Lots of different subjects
I’ll be demonstrating using different people’s reference photos, so you’ll not only learn how to approach your own pet portrait, but you’ll also see demonstrations covering different types of fur, body shapes and animals.
Perfect for giving you lots of ideas to practise with throughout the autumn!
- Fur made simple
I’ll show you how I approach different types of fur in a way that is easy to understand and replicate. We’ll look at pet portraits, wildlife and different animals — anything goes as long as it is an animal/bird etc!
- What makes a really good portrait?
We’ll have a proper deep dive into what makes an animal portrait really work, including composition, expression, character and likeness.
We’ll look at how to make your portrait recognisable as the animal in your reference photo, while also giving it its own individual appeal as a finished artwork.
- Pastel pencils or coloured pencils
We’ll be working predominantly in pastel pencils, but if you would prefer to work in coloured pencil, you are very welcome to do so.
Just let me know beforehand so I can make sure I bring the right materials for you. 😊
- Little tricks that make a BIG difference
I’ll share lots of the little techniques I use to elevate your work and create that lovely three-dimensional effect.
- Plenty of individual help
I’ll demonstrate to everyone throughout the day, but I’ll also spend lots of time working individually with each of you.
That means I can really focus on any difficulties you’re having and help you with the things you’d particularly like to improve.
🐾 Choosing your subject
Once you’ve booked, please email me to let me know what animal you’re planning to draw and send me some reference photos.
I’ll have a look through them with you before the class and we can work out which photo will work best.
I’ll also be printing the photos a few days before the class, so please send them to me as soon as possible.
So, if you fancy this last chance jacket potato and last chance bit of Chloe-help with your portraits before I disappear for the autumn, then do book in now! 😂❤️
I really hope you’ll enjoy this course and have lots of fun learning the techniques I’ve picked up over the years.
I always try to make things simple, achievable and easy to understand, so whether you’re a complete beginner, an experienced artist or somewhere in between, you are very welcome.
If you’d like any more information, just get in touch.
I’m really looking forward to seeing you all soon!
