Pet Portraits

Commissions

Each year I take on a limited number of pet portrait commissions and I am currently booking in limited portraits for 2026.

The service I offer is totally bespoke and I really work hard to ensure you are happy and we have a complete likeness to your pet. I will discuss with you the various mediums I use, giving examples of each, and discussing what is best suited to your needs.

Using the highest quality art materials means that your portrait should last a lifetime and beyond. I work in pastels, colour pencils, oils, acrylics and watercolour–all with a highly realistic effect whilst still creating a memorable piece of art.

My Pricing

Mounting, Packaging and Secure Shipping to the UK is £25 and the rest of the world is £40. The portraits are incredibly securely flat - packaged and are fully tracked.  Framed portraits will cost more to post so I can get a specific quote for this as it will depend on the frame.  Please add £15 on top for oil/acrylic canvas paintings.

Please note that the measurements quoted are approximate.  The image will take up as much of the space as aesthetically possible but it depends on the dimensions of the photo and what works as a composition.

If choosing to frame yourself I suggest you don’t buy the frame until you receive the artwork. This is because you need to take into consideration the mount and the size which may be bespoke.  All coloured pencil and pastel drawings will be mounted, ready for framing, prior to sending to you.

Payment Terms

50% of the total is to be paid on booking your slot and guarantees you the place in my diary.   The full amount needs to be paid on completion and prior to shipping or collection.

How I Work

  • In order for me to produce the very best portrait, I will need a clear photograph

In the daylight, and for best results it is particularly important for me to be able to see the colours and shapes in their eyes - it really is what makes my portraits come alive.

Just the tiniest dot out of place can render a different personality, so I have to make sure I have the very best photos of them to help me bring them to life. If the subject is still alive then please do take lots and lots of photos and send them all to me.  Ideally take them in daylight with a little sun but not so bright they are casting huge shadows.  I love to work close up to the animal's face so the clarity in the eyes is essential.  I do full body portraits too, but this is something we can discuss together. If your animal has sadly made his or her journey over the rainbow bridge then please send me as many photos as you possibly can of them and I will work with you on the best one we can use.

I will do everything I possibly can to take a commission but there will sadly be times when I will not be able to work for you if I don't have clear enough images.  I really take huge pride in my work and in achieving a likeness, so there may be a time when I cannot take on a commission, but I assure you I will go through everything I can before I turn it down.

  • The Background can compliment your decor at home

I can include a plain, coloured or bokeh background of your choice included with any portrait or I can leave it crisp and plain.
I don't currently like detailed backgrounds as I like the focus to be on the animal. However, a suggestion of something that is with the pet in the photo (blanket, the ground etc..) can be added and also expressive backgrounds or ones where the fur moulds into the background in a more abstract way can be a wonderful way of combining a portrait with a statement piece for your wall, so I will happily discuss this for you. If you have a colour scheme in mind then do let me know!

  • Finishing Touches

If you have a specific colour in mind for the mount, please let me know - or this is something we can discuss together. I can also offer a framing service if you would like me to, but then the frame cost will depend on the sort of frame you would like and again, this is something we can work on together.
Oil portraits (linen canvas) come ready to hang on the wall.  Please allow extra time for oil portraits as the drying times are weeks.

  • Shipping And Packing

All portraits will be securely and safely packaged to ensure they arrive with you in mint condition. They will be posted using a tracked service and I insure all my work.
