Baby Cygnet Workshop
Baby Cygnet Workshop
Hi everyone,
I hope you’re all doing well!
Thank you so much for the overwhelming support for the next Highland Cow course. I’m delighted to say we’ve sold out, and I’m super excited to meet some new faces as well as my gorgeous regulars!
So, onto the next course I have planned… a Baby Cygnet in Oils! (Photo is of my oil study version of a gorgeous little Cygnet – photo ref with huge thanks to Sue Cross Wildlife photographer)
The first thing to say is that I absolutely love oils. The way they smoosh and flow into each other is truly exceptional. Don’t panic if you’ve never tried oils before — we’ll be going through all the basics step by step together.
And equally, don’t panic if you really don’t want to try oils! I’m more than happy for you to work in pastels if you prefer. I know I have a few of you whose first love is pastels, and that’s totally fine. In fact, there are a huge number of similarities in the way we work with oils and pastels.
That said, if you’re willing to give oils a go, they really are a wonderful medium and I’m pretty sure I can get you hooked!
Cygnet in Oils
Date:Â Sunday 5th July
Time: 9.30am – 1.30pm
Venue:Â Upper Sheringham Village Hall
Cost: £45 – includes all materials and light refreshments
You will learn:
- The basics of oil painting
- Fat over lean
- Working alla prima
- Layering in oils
- Wet-into-wet technique
- Creating detail with oils
- Blending and softening with oils whilst preserving detail
This isn’t going to be an apron-wearing, slapping-paint-around sort of class! We’ll be working with very small amounts of paint, super-fine brushes, and giving our little cygnet the same delicacy and attention to detail that we bring to all of our drawings together.
It’s hopefully going to be a joyous, fun little Sunday spent painting a baby swan, and I’d love for you to join me! 😊
