Here’s my Hero! An absolutely gorgeous doggie from AKIRA animal sanctuary in Benissa – he was a real stunner to draw. I had lots of fun with his soft fluffy ear and really threw my heart and soul into him. He took over 40 hours to complete but he will now form part of a collection of greeting cards and prints which will be made in aid of the rescue centre, to help them continue their brilliant work.

Hero was drawn with coloured pencils (mainly Caran Dache pablos and Faber Castell Polychromos) on Clairefontaine Pastelmat – I only ever use the most expensive, archival, lightfast materials so portraits will last a lifetime!
